Lloyd Ivan Addy was born October 29th 1917 in Iowa to Ivan and Bessie Addy. He had one younger sister Thelma Addy whom he survived. Lloyd was raised on a farm outside Marcus Iowa with livestock and crops of corn and beans. In High School he met Winifred Jenkins who captured his attention and later became the love of his life. Lloyd and Win got married in Marcus on June 8th one week before Wins birthday so the marriage license would show them the same age. They raised four sons together on the same farm Lloyd grew up on. It turned out the dust, chemicals and fertilizer was giving Lloyd considerable problems with allergies. In 1956 the Doctor told Lloyd to leave Iowa so He and Win took their sons Tom, Jim, Paul, and Don and moved to Rose Ave. in Long Beach California. They had sold everything they had and started over in hopes to have a healthier environment for Lloyd and his family.

After coming to California Lloyd began as a shoe salesman and later began his career selling furniture at Sears and Roebucks for aver 25 years. Lloyd was the breadwinner of the family while Win raised the boys and gave birth to Joe in 1957 and Jan in 1962 making an even six. This family grew over the years to include loving daughter in laws, 11 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. The move to California proved to be a very healthy for Lloyd. Besides raising children enjoying grand and great grand children, Lloyd and Win began camping, riding bikes, jogging, and following the hundreds of events the boys and later girls participated in throughout their years. Lloyd and Win were rarely seen apart, always holding hands, and frequently kissing. They relied heavily on each other and complimented each other so effortlessly. Lloyd and Win painted a picture that it was so easy to live happily together for over 65 years, and live to 90 years old and have a great time doing it.

Lloyd and Win lost three of their sons Tom, Jim and Jan far too early for their years. The passing of these sons made a very sad place in their lives and hearts. Win�s passing in May of 2007 was less than one month before their 68th wedding anniversary and Win�s 90th birthday. This loss of Win would prove to be Lloyd�s biggest challenge. Lloyd kept himself very busy after Win�s passing. He worked around improving the house, taking a trip back to Iowa, traveling to Oregon, walking to Church, delivering Meals on Wheels with daughter in law Janie, going out to breakfast with Don and Joe, playing with grand and great grand kids, receiving many visitors like Jody and her family and Paul with his family, playing cards with a group at Houghton Park and most recently riding a bike nearly every day. He would say riding his bike down Cherry Ave. next to the Mausoleum was so fun because the wind was blocked and he could really go fast.

In the end Lloyd had complications with pulmonary fibrosis, pneumonia, and an infection in his lung that took his life two short weeks after he was admitted to Memorial Hospital. He left this Earth as he lived in it with great strength, courage, and dignity.

Lloyd Addy was an inspiration of how to be a good Husband, Father, Friend, Neighbor, and overall Fair, Generous, and Loving Human Being. He will be truly missed.
