Aunt Thyra,
I (and my sbilings) will be forever grateful for welcoming us in the US in the 70's and throughout, especially when mum was not with us. You always had a warm and welcoming smile. You were a great example of being selfless and generous. Thanks for fond memories, thanks for touching so many lives, you will be greatly missed!!

My sympathy goes out to the family. May her soul rest in peace.

A thousand times we needed you, a thousand times we cried. If love alone could have saved you, you never would have died. A heart of gold stopped beating, two twinkling eyes closed to rest. God broke our hearts to prove he only took the best. Never a day goes by that you're not in my heart. From the whole family in Bowie.

Dear friend, Thyra – Rest in Peace. You work here on earth is done. It is heart-warming to read such wonderful remembrances of you because you were certainly a generous spirited being and a loving mother to my dear god-daughter Gail and her brother Richard. It was good to reconnect with you in 1976 when we both lived on Thayer Avenue, downtown Silver Spring. What great periods of reminiscing we used to have. I have watched you over the years give so much of yourself and your resources to others. God keep your soul in perfect peace. Amen

Mommy for the first time in my life I can not celebrate your birthday with you. Happy Birthday Mommy! Your work was done on earth and God called you home. May your soul in perfect peace.

Today would have been your 68th birthday. As I sit in Chicago Airport waiting for my connecting flight to Washington I thought about calling you for your birthday & the anticipation of visiting you. Then a thunder bolt hit me that you have been called to a higher service. Your work on earth is done. We are going to miss your broad smile & the glowing beam in your eyes when you open your door for Mumbie & me. You will forever live in our hearts & we'll miss you greatly. RIP!

What a difficult day today is my dear sister. For the first time I couldn't pick up the phone to wish you a Happy Birthday - 68th birthday. You said "... Please come so you will all surround and cheer me up on my birthday. It will be like a reunion and we will have fond memories." Lo and behold it was not to be. The birthday card I was going to send you is still on my dresser.
