Richard Joseph Christie Obituary

My heart sank when I learned the news about Coach Christie. I have many memories about Coach during football and track at Tipton High School '82 - '85. I'll never forget when we were down a few points in a football game how he would turn his hat into a rally cap to inspire us to push harder. Or, when he was really fired up in a huddle how he would start spitting his words at us. His unique coaching style has been an inspiration to me to push my two children to achieve more in athletics.

We have many memories but the ones that stand out are spring break at Sugar Sands with the Kokomo gang. So many memories and the kids had such great times too. Our hearts are heavy as we think about what you are going through. Our thoughts of Dick always include his quick smile and warm hug. We will pray for all of you as you follow God's plan.
Love,

Dick was as nice a person as I have had the pleasure of knowing. Remarkably kind and always a gentleman. I am so glad to have reconnected with Dick and Marriane at our annual Butler Basketball Sig reunion. I was looking forward to seeing him again this coming February. God please take care of Dick.

I was lucky enough to be at Tipton with Coach from 84 - 87 on the football field and the wrestling mat. Many memories are of Coach and that smile, he was always ready with a few words of encouragement. You will be missed Coach

Coach Chistie was a great Coach and Teacher. I had the privilage to spend four years at Tipton High School from 79 thru 82 with him. I have a lot of great memories of indoor track meets at Purdue, Muncie Relays, CIC Conference Meet, and Kokomo Relays. Coach will be missed by many!!!
