Carolyn Greene Rogers

Rogers, Carolyn Greene - age 76 of Knoxville, TN, passed away on Friday, December 14, 2012, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center, Knoxville. She was surrounded in love by family at the time of her passing. Carolyn will join those who preceded her in death: Dorothy Vance House, her mother, and father, Lucien Clayton Greene. Carolyn "Cannie" was a doting, compassionate and courageous mother, grandmother, neighbor, coworker and friend. She is survived by her brother, Clayton Greene and wife Connie and her children, Richard Rogers Jr. and wife, Judy, Elisabeth Lanois and husband, Peter, and Michael Rogers. Carolyn "Granmommie" will be especially missed by her beloved grandchildren, Alexandra Rogers, Lindsay Lanois and Peter Lanois Jr. Carolyn was also a special aunt to Cathy Thompson and husband, Derry and Bill Greene and grandnieces and nephews Dean, Julie, Mary and Stevie Thompson. Carolyn touched many people's lives and remains in the hearts of many. She attended the University of Tennessee and graduated from the University of Georgia. She enjoyed life-long friendships with women from the Tri-Delta Sorority, the Junior League of Knoxville and the Cotton Ball Belles of Knoxville. She was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church of Knoxville and an employee of the University of Tennessee. Just under a year ago, Carolyn retired from UT and will be missed by her wonderful colleagues. Carolyn moved to her Shady Land neighborhood in the early 1960's and will be remembered as the best neighbor one could ever have. Special gratitude is extended to the doctors and staff at UT Hospital who provided support to Carolyn and family during her brief stay. A Memorial service will be Friday, December 21, 2012 at 12:30 pm at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Paul P. Rader officiating. A reception will take place following the service at the church.
