Dear Poe Family, I am so sorry for your loss. With the recent loss of my mom I know exactly what you are going through. In time we will heal by the grace of God. You will always have your memories such as the ones I have of Mr. Poe carring a cup of coffee in one hand, his pipe in the other and a newspaper tucked under his arm on his way down the halls at school. Another memory

Mary and family,

Mr. Poe was one of the best teachers I ever had. I have several fun memories of him while we were driving around in that station wagon driver's ed car. He was always fun and had a great sense of humor. He was a great man and I know he will be missed.

Mr. Poe was always such a gentle, patient teacher with a great sense of humor. What an incredible impression he made on generations of Woodbine students! His life of service is a testament to his sterling character. He leaves a wonderful legacy of having bettered the lives of everyone who had the privilege of having met him. My sympathies to you all!

Max was such a good friend - working with him at the Woodbine School and having coffee with him and Mary at Casey's. He sang at my son Mike's and my husband's funerals. My sympathy to all of you.

Love, Corlys

Mary and Family,
We moved to Woodine when I was in Junior High and Max was perhaps one of my best teachers while growing up in Woodbine. Max he really made an instant impression on me and I could never thank him enough. I recall great days with Max in the classroom as well as with both Junior High basketball and track. If anyone could be an example of a mentor for students in Woodbine...Max was one of them.
