Joseph A. Martinez passed away on Monday, January 14, 2013. Age 89 years. Beloved husband of Audrey Hertz Martinez. Father of Joseph A. Martinez, Jr. (Sandy T.), Gloria M. Farrell (Howell F., Sr.) and Mary M. Spinato (Joseph C.). Son of the late Agnes Walker Martinez and John S. Martinez. Brother of Vendena Martinez Williams and the late John Martinez. Grandfather of Howell F. Farrell, Jr., Kristi F. Kline (Scott), Ray Martinez (Brandy), Courtney M. Crawford (David), Julie S. Hunter (Andrew) and Kaylyn A. Spinato (Michael Bourgeois). Great-grandfather of Kaegan J. Farrell, Jannings Martinez, Dawson Martinez, Morgan Martinez, Rayna Crawford and Sophia Hunter. Also survived by nieces and nephews. Joseph was a flooring contractor for many years. He also served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the South Pacific and the Korean Conflict Stateside - 16 years of service and was a member of Kenner V.F.W. Post No. 7732.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. (in Metairie Cemetery) on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at 3:00PM. A visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 12:00 noon. Interment will follow in Metairie Cemetery. In lieu of flowers masses or donations to your favorite charity preferred.
