I hadn't seen Donald for many years but we were good friends and not just because he saved my life but that's way up there on the list of reasons! When we were both younger men, we worked together doing Ironwork, erecting buildings. On the very first day I hired Donald, we were both on the roof structure of what was then called the Chateau De Ville in Warehouse Point, Ct. One of the workers on the other crew was being careless and he pulled the sheet of decking I was standing on, out from under me. In a second, I was knocked off the iron and began a deadly fall to the concrete floor some forty feet below. Even before I was able to scream, I felt myself being pulled back up on the structure by some unknown force. That force was Donald Collette who had somehow grabbed me from behind and pulled me back to safety. He looked at me and said simply, "If you were going, I was going with you". Well, Donald and I spent the rest of the day at the bar and I bought him a drink every time I saw him after that for the rest of my life! This is not the kind of unselfish, heroic act one takes lightly and I only wish that I could buy Donald one more drink. At the very least, I am grateful for the opportunity to share my story about Donald. May he rest in peace.

Crystal: So sorry to hear about the loss of your Father. I know he has suffered with health issues. Know that he is now free of pain and in a better place. And, a belated "thank you" for his service to our Country.

Losing a loved one especially a parent is never easy but may you find comfort in all of the happy memories that you were able to make with your dad over the years. We are very sorry for your loss. My father was a great man. He always supported all of his children and was proud of all of the acomplishments that we made. He loved his grandchildren very much and they will never forget how much Grandpa loved them. While battling numerous health issues he still made us laugh, was his stubborn old self, and never gave up. I love you so much Dad and so happy that I can say that Donald (squeaky) Collette is my Father. Love your oldest Daughter Crystal
