Condolence & Memory Journal

Richard was my foster father when I was seven years old. I remember the house in New Orleans, La. I remember going to Toys-R-Us. I remember going to church and school. I remember watching him sing in the church choir at Word of Faith. I remember having to sit at the table until all my vegetables were eaten and tea was drank. I remember being tucked in at bedtime. I remember Christmas time! In 2002, I found out that Richard lived in Slidell and was married with two daughters. I decided to surprise him with a visit. Through that visit, I discovered that he had named his youngest daughter after me. Then, I moved out of state and completely lost touch for the next 10 years. After his passing, I visited the family in May of 2012 to share My God testimony (which is too long to explain here, but the family knows the story). I have remained in touch with the family, which I accept as part of my New Family of God! I believe that Richard would be very happy to know that there has been a family re-union!

Aunt Kathy, Julie, and Priscilla we pray for continued strength in the coming days. Uncle Rich was so proud of his family, church and friends. The joy he brought to others was evident at the services. I was so proud to see how much love was shown as we prepared to say goodbye to him. It was truly as inspirational as he was. He will continue to live on in all of our hearts and I pray that all of your sweet memories of times spent together, ease your pain. Uncle Rich has left a remarkable legacy that will continue to inspire others to give their lives to Jesus. We love you all so much!

I always enjoyed talking with Rich at the Slidell High games. When I was laid off he even offered me info on acting gigs if I was interested. I ran into him at Waffle House recently and it was great to speak with him.

A true friend and I will miss him.

Kathy, you and the girls have been in our prayers. The sudden loss is shocking and numbing, but the love and comfort God sends to us are unfailing. He is faithful and will see you all through the difficult days ahead. Our love, Mark and Carole Oliverio

Dear Kathy and girls,

We will miss Richard as he was ALWAYS a light. We are thankful for all his great coaching of the team over the years. Danny enjoyed laughing and talking about acting with Richard. Recently they shared a sandwich at Subway and shared in some laughter.

Kathy I will make it a priority to check in on you. Girls go on with your lives, that is what your Dad would want. Remember the good times with you Dad. It's a tough job raising two beautiful girls. Support your Mom and carry on. Take all the lessons of life that your Dad taught you and you will be successful (whatever that is for each of you).

Richard "Rich" will always be in our hearts. He was such an example of a Godly Man. He is more alive in the Land of the Living than us who are in the land of the dying. We love you Kathy, Julie & Priscilla & stand with you; our prayers are with you & may God continue to be your Strength.
