Condolence & Memory Journal

I am sorry to respond after-the-fact, but my friendship with Mark merits my belated condolence to Mary and the entire Calderon and Hernandez clan on the passing of your beloved Alex. I wish all of you comfort in this time of mourning. He will always be there. You'll see him in the sky above, in the tall grass, in the ones you love.

I am saddened to hear about the loss Alex Sr. I have been a long time friend and patron of Contessa and come to know the family over the years. It was always a highlight in my day see the family at the gallery and Alex will surely be missed. Alex Sr. passed on my daughter, Megan's birthday and I will always remember him. He was a kind, caring and compassionate man and I know you are all very proud of his many contributions to this world.

Deepest sympathy,

Hello Mary and family,
Our deepest condolences and with heavy hearts that we send this message. Alex will surely be missed, when we come to Austin for a visit. Alex was such a character; he was witty just full of every day fun. We (Carlos,Lupe Manny and I Frances) would laugh, after he would tell a story, then pausing a moment, he he would say, "devedas" After we all had a good laugh, we would tell him that we believed him then he would feel better.
One nice, good friend, clean cut family man that's what Alex was. In the end, he was a Marine. The motto of the Marines is "Semper Fidelis," Latin for "always faithful." Rest in peace our friend, we will always smile, say a little prayer when we think of you.

Alex & Raymond,

Please know that I am so sorry for your loss. I just heard today and wish I would have been able to pay my respects. Your dad always talked about how much he loved you and how he would do anything for either of you. Funny, serious and always some great advise. He is going to be missed - sorry I could not have shared one more talk. Contessa is your dad and you guys make it the best it is.
Please know your in my prayers. God bless you all and your familiy.

Dear Alex, Ray and Mark, I read about your dad's death in this morning's paper and was so sad to know he is gone. He and my husband had heart situations begin at about the same time and they frequently had "heart to heart" talks when he or we were in the store. We thought he was an absolute delight and will treasure our memories of him always.

Years ago, when we started our business on Kerbey Lane we were greeted with Alex's winning smile. Alex made us feel welcome and always current on the news of the neighborhood. We loved it. Alex was so proud of his sons and the love of his life, Mary. He would shine with joy when he shared stories of his family. We will miss Alex and keep many treasured memories in our hearts.

Brian and I were so saddened to hear of the loss of your darling father.
I've been coming to your shop since I was a child with my mother, and she and I both considered your father one of our favorite people. Your father was so sweet to me when she died.
He was a truly delightful man, and I will miss him very much. He was the most fun conversationalist that I ever knew!
