Born Dec. 2, 1940 in Smithville, TN, Ken passed away unexpectedly from a massive heart attack on Jan. 24, 2009 in his Riverside, CA home in the presence of his Mother, Sister and Son. Survived by large extended family - only immediate family listed here: Mother "Nana" Onie/age 90, who was holding Ken's hand as he took his final breath that peaceful morning; Sister LaVonne & Family; Brother Billy & Family; adoptive Daughters Dawn/age 48 + 3 children; Shelly/age 44 + 2 children; biological Daughter Tammy/age 41 + 2 children; biological Son Clayton/age 14 and his Sister Erica/age 24 & her daughter. Ken's final wishes; No formal service or burial, instead he requests an intimate family gathering at Grandma Dossie Lee's grave (same place he sat & wrote the songs lyrics) where his ashes will be sprinkled in her eternal care. Cremation services generously donated by Benedict - Retty Crematorium in Morro Bay, CA - Owned & operated by Jay, Lynn, their daughter Tina who have been like a second Family to Ken's Daughter Tammy for over 30 years. We are eternally grateful for the compassion & generosity received from these amazing folks & take great comfort in the fact that they were able to act with such grace & dignity as our last link to Ken - having cared for him in life as well as in death. There are simply no words to express our appreciation for the Bluegrass Community who have also been so supportive for the family - Thank you all from our hearts.
