Eleanor Smith Herring, 86, passed away on Monday, October 29, 2012 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by her family.

Eleanor was born in Wayne County on July 4, 1926 to the late Otho Smith and Mamie Coker Smith. She was married to the late James Paul Herring. Eleanor was a member of Woods Grove Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at the Smith Family Cemetery with Rev. Barry Teague and Rev. Craig Langston officiating.

Eleanor is survived by her son, Greg Herring and wife Brenda of Rockingham; her sister, Lou Kearney of Goldsboro; two grandsons, Jay Herring and wife Heather, and Marcus Herring and wife Emilie; and great-grandchildren, James, Kate and Addie Herring. She is also survived by a special family friend, Margie Jackson.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 30, 2012 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at her home.

Memorials may be given in her memory to Woods Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church Senior Citizens, 4009 Central Heights Road, Goldsboro, NC 27534.
