Emma Gene Glunt, age 88, former longtime resident of Henderson, KY, passed away at 9:30 PM, Saturday, January 19, 2013, at Reflections at Carolina Forest in Conway, SC.

Gene was born on May 18, 1924 in Providence, KY. She attended Hebbardsville Elementary School, and graduated from both Weaverton High School and Evansville Business College. She was a member of: Hospital Auxiliary, Henderson County Homemakers Association, Elks Club, Moose Lodge, Odd Fellows, Lions Club, Henderson County Country Club, Sportsman Club, and Monthly Supper Club.
Her many accomplishments include being the Secretary/Treasurer of the Western Kentucky Funeral Director's Association and a Kentucky Colonel. Gene also received a Golden Award for contributions to St. Labre Indian School. She was a Kentucky Licensed Funeral Director and Co-Owner with her husband Maynard of Springfield Funeral Home in Sebree, Benton-Glunt Funeral Home, Tapp Funeral Home, and Moss Funeral Residence in Henderson.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years Maynard Vaughn Glunt, daughter Paula Jean Glunt her parents Lawrence Robert and Pauline Bassett, and brother Robert Bassett.

Relatives and friends are invited to Gene's Life Celebration from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, January 25, 2013 and again on Saturday starting at 9:00 AM at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at1:00 PM on Saturday the funeral home with the Rev. Alan Chamness & Rev. Phil Hoy officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmont Cemetery in Henderson, KY.
