John R. Seelinger, 55, died Sunday, Jan. 14, 2007.

Memorial service: A private family service has been held.

John was born Feb. 3, 1951, in Beckley, W.Va., to Mike and Frances Seelinger. John spent his early years in growing up in Manchester, Iowa. In 1973, John graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a B.A. in business marketing. After 10 years in retail management, John moved to Texas. He and his wife started their own business in Texas that they operated for over 23 years. John's passions were sailing, the ocean and working in his yard. However, the most important thing in his life was his family.

Survivors: Wife, Nanci Lynn Seelinger; sons, Christoper and Jeffrey of Colleyville; mother, Frances Borton of Salina, Kan.; his father, Mike Seelinger and his wife, Marilyn, of Manchester, Iowa; brothers, Ken Seelinger and his wife, Cathy, and Charles Seelinger and his wife, Kathy; and his nieces and nephew.
