Joseph Arthur Guthrie, 87, of Chicago Heights, retired sales executive at Sawhill Tubular Products (now AK Steel Corp), decorated veteran of the Battle of the Bulge, passed away unexpectedly November 7, 2012.
Beloved husband of 66 years to Elizabeth (nee Berkon). Loving father of Gale (Thomas) Whitworth, Sandra (David) Beal, Warren (Laurie) Guthrie. Very proud grandfather of ten, great-grandfather of two. Dear brother of Virginia (Oscar) Haspel.
Memorial service will be Friday November 16, 11:00am at Flossmoor Community Church. 2218 Hutchison Road, Flossmoor.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to www.woundedwarrierproject.org.
Joe was a long time member of Flossmoor Country Club, an avid Notre Dame football fan, and an active member of Flossmoor Community Church. He will be remembered for the twinkle in his eye, quick sense of humor and his love of God, country and his wife, Elizabeth.
