Joseph Patrick Powers, 83, of Owensboro, KY died Friday, February 5, 2010, at Owensboro Place Care & Rehabilitation. He was born on March 17, 1926 in Daviess County, Kentucky to the late William Patrick and Mary Nellie Powers. He had been employed as an electrician for Green River Steel Corporation, was of the Catholic faith, and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Francis Powers, Mark Anthony "Tony" Powers, and Robert "Bob" Powers; and a sister-in-law, Lilly Powers. He is survived by three brothers, George (Barbara) Powers of Bowling Green, KY and William Burke Powers and Edward Henry (Wanda) Powers both of Owensboro; a sister, Theresa Marie (John) Clark of Murray, KY; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Powers of Owensboro and Kay Powers of Owensboro; 26 nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews. Services are at1:00p.m. on Sunday, February 7, 2010 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Browns Valley, KY. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery in Owensboro, KY. Visitation is after 12:00p.m. until the time of the service on Sunday at St. Anthony Catholic Church.
