Kristiana L. Serrao died suddenly at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital, on Wednesday, February 13, 2013. She was only 14 years of age. Kristiana was born in Newton, raised in Melrose and has been a resident here for the past 14 years. Miss Serrao has been going to the Campus School at Boston College for several years; where she was loved by all her teachers and fellow students. Kristiana had a smile that would light up a room, loved going to school, she had beautiful long dark hair and piano fingers. Miss Serrao enjoyed having her hair brushed, loved to snuggle & be held and gave unconditional love to all that knew her. Kristiana was an "Angel" to her loving parents Argenis & Maria Monks Serrao and best friend and loving sister to her brother Alexander M. Serrao. Beloved granddaughter of Rosa & Jaime Serrao of Reading, formerly of Somerville, the Late Harry Monks & his wife Mary Monks of Kingston and the late Pasqualina (Cammarata) Monks. Special niece of Theresa & Mark Pisano of Plymouth, Lisa Monks of Wakefield, Nixon Serrao of Stoneham, Nelson & Lillian Serrao of Chicopee, Marisol Serrao of Reading and Anita & Scott Demetri of North Reading. Also survived by several cousins, many friends and loving caregivers. Funeral from the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Tuesday, February 19th at 9AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church, Herbert St. Melrose, at 10AM. Relatives & friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Monday from 4:00-8:00PM. Interment at Wyoming Cemetery in Melrose. Memorial contributions may be made in Kristiana's name to the Campus School at Boston College, Campion Hall, 140 Commonwealth Ave., Chestnut Hill, MA 02467 or to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, One Bullfinch Place, 2nd Floor, Boston, MA 02114.
