Larry Cannon, age 55, passed away at his earthly home in Oakdale, Tennessee, on January 17, 2013, after a 13 month battle with cancer. He is now with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ living eternity in his Heavenly Home. He was a member of Pine Orchard Baptist Church, Oakdale Tennessee.
He is survived by his wife and best friend of 12 years Rebekah Beard Cannon
Two Sons: Joshua Reid Cannon and Brady Caleb Cannon of Harriman
Parents: Kenneth and Jean Cannon of Knoxville
Sister: Suzanne Cannon Newman (Tom) of Sevierville
Nephew and Niece: Thomas and Rebekah Newman of Sevierville
Larry was a Clinton Sr. High School athlete, graduating in 1975. He earned a BS, MS in Physical Education from Tennessee Tech University in 1979, 1981. He taught and coached at Oakdale and Harriman schools before earning his Ed.S from TTU. An avid outdoorsman and hunter, Larry strongly believed in the Second Amendment and supported the National Rifle Association (NRA). His son, Reid, shares his hunting passion; hunting for the last time with his dad on December 28. Younger son, Brady, enjoyed golfing with his dad, a sport Larry began in college. He was employed by MHF Logistical Solutions
The family will receive friends Saturday, January 19, 2013, from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Schubert Funeral Home in Wartburg. Funeral Services will be Sunday , January 20, 2013 at 2:00pm at Pine Orchard Baptist Church in Oakdale with Bro. Ronnie Nichols officiating. Body will lie in-state an hour in advance. Interment will follow in the Pine Orchard Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ronnie Beard, John Gates, Scott Dempsey, Chaz Hafner, Mike Redmon, Anthony Metler, Troy Monk and Brad McKeehan.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Pine Orchard Building Fund in Memory of Larry Cannon.
