Leroy "Chuck" Castleberry, 82, of Rossville, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 22, 2013. He had lived in the North Georgia area for most of his life and was of the Baptist faith. He was an Army Veteran having served during the Korean Conflict and retired from the Tennessee American Water Company in 1986 after more than 35 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, camping, riding motorcycles and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a loving and devoted Dad and Pawpaw who will be greatly missed by all that knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence & Lucy Castleberry and brother, Glen Castleberry.
Survivors include his loving companion of 45 years, Helen Helton of Rossville, GA; daughters & sons-in-law, Patricia & (Larry) Parton of Chickamauga, GA and Pam & (Gary) Ball of Rossville, GA; two sisters & brothers-in-law, Grace & (Martin) Shrader of Trenton, GA and Jean & (Charles) Stone of Boynton, GA; brother & sister-in-law, Bill & (Betty) Castleberry of Rising Fawn, GA; three grandchildren, Tara & (Daniel) Byer, Amy Ball and Jason & (Jenny) Parton; three great grandchildren, Katie Fowler, Courtney Parton and Jacob Byer; from first family, Velda Kilgore of Chattanooga, TN, Vickie & (George) Hogan of Dayton, FL, Joy McAdams of Ider, AL; grandson, Byron Kilgore; granddaughter, Amanda McAdams Harl; great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 28, 2013 in the Fort Oglethorpe Chapel. Burial will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery. The family will begin receiving friends after 6 p.m. Saturday, all day Sunday and prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home. The family would like to express a special thanks to Donna Alexander, Billie Jean Hunter, Rosie Neal, Julie Williams, Matt Brown, Emily Dunn, Kathleen Forrester and Michelle Wycuff and Hospice for their care and compassion for Mr. Castleberry.
