Michael S. Hackworth , 65, passed away Sunday, November 18, 2012 in Fort Wayne. Born in Warsaw, IN, and grew up in Silver Lake IN. Graduated from Silver Lake High School in 1965. He served in the US Army and was a Viet Nam veteran. Michael worked as the liaison between the engineering and production staff in the Specialty Transformer Department at General Electric for 33 years. He was a passionate Civil War historian, love to read and do genealogy research. Michael was very quiet and liked simple things in life. Surviving are his sons, Phil Hackworth and Eric (Jill) Hackworth both of Ft. Wayne, IN, his former wife, Cheryl L. Ferverda of Ft. Wayne, IN sister, Jennifer Lucht of Warsaw, IN a granddaughter, Elizabeth Hackworth. Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Ballard J. and Lucille Hackworth. Calling at D.O. McComb and Sons Lakeside Park Funeral Home, 1140 Lake Avenue Saturday, November 24, 2012 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm with a private service at a later date.
