Michael Hignite, 56, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2012 at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home. Born in Columbus, IN, he was a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne. Michael was a salesman in the Steel Industry for 26 years before retiring in 2010. He was a member of American Legion Post #296. He was an avid fisherman and golfer who enjoyed trap shooting and spending time with friends and family. Surviving are his loving wife of 26 years, Karen (Wyneken) Hignite of Fort Wayne, mother, Wavel (Ed) Foster of North Vernon, brother, Don (Leslie) Hignite of North Vernon, sister, Karen Hignite of Berea, KY, nieces and nephews; Calli, Peyton, Keenan, Connor, and daughter, Jennifer. Michael was preceded in death by father, Mack Hignite. A Memorial Service is 2:00 pm, Thursday, November 15, 2012 at the American Legion David Parrish Post 296, 130 W. Tillman Road in Fort Wayne. Memorials may be made to Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home or Fort Wayne Animal Care and Control. Arrangements by D.O. McComb and Son's Foster Park Funeral Home. To sign the online guest book, go to
