On Wednesday morning, January 2, 2013, Nancy Gray Cruse, 86, of LaGrange, moved to her Heavenly home. Nancy was a godly woman who loved the Lord and her family and set an example for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren that will lead them all their lives.

Nancy was born in Wayne County on May 2, 1926 to the late Claudie and Hannah Walters Gray. She was a caring, loving parent and grandparent whose primary goal was the happiness and security of her family. Nancy also supported her husband in his farming business. She got great pleasure in cooking for her family and the farm hands, and could often be found helping others in her community. Nancy was a charter member of United In Christ Church. For over 40 years, she served as secretary for the Ladies Auxiliary at the Clingman Street Church of God, where she had been a member.

A service remembering the life of Nancy will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 4, 2013 at United In Christ Church with Rev. Ira Williford and Rev. Larry Massey officiating. Interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Wayne Memorial Park.

Nancy will be remembered as a devoted wife to her husband of 67 years, William Cruse. She is also survived by her children, JoAnn C. Summerlin and husband Aldon, Faye C. Williams and husband Eddie, William Earl Cruse and wife Mary, and Glenda Cruse Lockerby and husband Daniel, all of LaGrange; her grandchildren, Daryl Anderson and wife Shelly, Leigh Davis and husband Chad, Christi Stephenson and husband Jeff, Lisa Carter and husband Burl, Lynn Watson and husband Horace, Angie Moore and husband Eric, Angie Sutton and husband Mark, April Brown and husband Eric, Andrew Lockerby and Danielle Lockerby; great-grandchildren, Jordan Anderson, Jaxon Anderson, Cody Davis, Luke Davis, Jacob Sutton, Abigail Stephenson, Carlie Carter, Joseph Carter, Logan Grant, Ava Watson, Bryce Moore, Courtney Worth, Jenna Sutton, Madison Brown and Garrett Brown. She was anticipating the birth of her great-grandson, Baby Boy Watson, son of Lynn and Horace Watson.

Nancy is also survived by her sister, Gertie Duncan of Orangeville, CA; several other family members that include: brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and several nieces and nephews, as well as some very dear friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Ruth Smith and her brothers, Raymond, Roland, Robert, Richard, Roy and Noah Gray.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to United In Christ Church, 1314 Patetown Road, Goldsboro, NC 27530.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and following the service on Friday, January 4, 2013 at United In Christ Church. At other times, the family will be at her home.
