Russell Robelot passed away on January 31, 2013, after a sudden illness at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital. Beloved son of Walter A. Robelot and the late Elaine D. Robelot. Russell was a Baton Rouge resident and was 40 years of age. He is survived by his brothers, Walter A. Robelot, II, and Dr. Darryl R. Robelot, and his sisters-in-law, Cissie and Susan Robelot. He is also survived by his nephew, Ryan Robelot, and four nieces, Casey, Heather, Jordan and Jessica Robelot.

Russell was a native of Metairie and a graduate of Archbishop Rummel High School, where he played football and was a member of the track and wrestling teams. He graduated from Louisiana State University in 1996 with a B.A. degree in Architecture.

Russell was employed as a licensed architect in the State of Louisiana for the past 11 years with CSRS Architects and Engineers in Baton Rouge. Russell, while employed with CSRS, was instrumental in the delivery of K-12 educational facilities over the last decade. During the course of his career with CSRS, Russell was also the program manager for several school systems, including the Zachary Community School System, St. John the Baptist Parish School System, Jefferson Parish Public School System and Ascension Parish School System. Two other notable projects on which Russell was the lead project architect were the Joseph J. Davies Elementary School in St. Bernard Parish, and Oceaneering International's new administration and manufacturing facility.

In his personal time he devoted his efforts to the AIA Student-Architect Mentorship Program working with architectural students from Louisiana State University and Southern University. His commitment to education, our community and the profession of architecture was recognized amongst his professional peers, having been recently elected to the American Institute of Architects Baton Rouge Chapter Board of Directors.

Russell was an avid and committed LSU football and baseball fan, being both a season ticket holder and TAF member for numerous years. He enjoyed tailgating and attending games with his good and loyal friends John, Darren, Matt, and Jeff. Special thanks to Russell's friends for their friendship, support and concern throughout Russell's life and recent illness.

Visitation will be Friday, February 8, 2013, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Greenwood Funeral Home, 5200 Canal Boulevard, New Orleans, LA. A memorial mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery. Friends, relatives and co-workers are invited to attend.
