Vincent J. Zugay, D.D.S, P.A died peacefully, June 18, 2012 at home in Alexandria, Va. Vincent was born in West Aliquippa, Pa. on July 21, 1932. He received his B.S degree from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1955 and was a member of the Delta Gamma Tau fraternity. He taught at Bladensburg Senior High School in Maryland from 1955 to 1961. Also during that time he was completing his graduate studies at George Washington University and graduated in 1960. Subsequently he received his DDS from the University of Maryland Dental School in 1965 and was a member of the PSI Omega Professional Dental Fraternity. He practiced general dentistry in Oxon Hill, Maryland from 1965 to present and was also a valued member of several professional dental organizations. He is survived by his devoted partner of 26 years, Mary Clare Haskin and her daughters, Pamela and Patricia Haskin and Tippy the cat; his son Vincent J. Zugay, Jr. and his wife Alexis Simmons of Tucker, Georgia; his daughter Elona Jean Menge (Dan) and grandchildren Luke and Lauren of San Jose, California; his niece Elona Ann Novosel and her children, Nicole, Anthony and Bret of Aliquippa, Pa. He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Helen Zugay, his sister Elona Manko and infant son Paul. Besides his family, he will be deeply missed by his patients and friends who loved, respected and admired him for his kind and gentle ways. A celebration of his life will be held in the Chapel of the Everly Wheatley Funeral Home, 1500 West Braddock Road, Alexandria, Va. 22302 on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at 10 A.M. A reception will follow at the funeral home. Interment will be private at Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton Maryland. Memorial contributions may be made in Dr. Zugay's name to The National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation.
