Virginia T. DeMann, age 96 of Warren, died Monday, December 17, 2012 at Beaumont Hospital in Troy. She was born on July 4, 1916 in Detroit, daughter of the late Conrad and the late Mary (nee: Szczepanski) Nowak.
A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Virginia was blessed with a long life to enjoy the people and things that brought her true happiness. From the love she shared with her soulmate,…to the nurturing guidance extended towards her son and daughter,…to, ultimately, the adoration poured out for her cherished grandchildren, this wonderful homemaker and care-giver truly possessed that of a servant's heart. She loved them all dearly, but there was no question that her beloved grandchildren were the apple of her eye and treasured beyond measure.
When she wasn't tending to the needs of house and home, Virginia shared some passions and pastimes that always provided a pleasant escape towards balance. Whether it was one of her many shopping stints at her favorite store, K-Mart,…or putting aside an evening of cooking for a meal out on the town, these were two of her favorite things to do,…especially the latter. There was always something special about sharing a meal out with family or friends, and not having to do the dishes afterwards.
Then there was her club memberships. This is where the fun was truly enjoyed and the warmest of memories created in the process. The "Four Eyes Club" was a band of friends who all experienced some sort of sight challenges, so they decided to form a "kindred spirits" group to see life through a different set of lenses,…the lenses of friendship, familiarity, and fun. The other group was her weekly Card Club. Every Tuesday night, she and a host of her girlfriends would come together for a little card fun and conversation,…and wouldn't you had loved to be a fly on the wall in that room? Nothing much else spells a great time than a cadre of ladies slingin' cards and chit-chat around the table.
For those who truly knew Virginia, they'll not forget what an incredible sweet tooth she possessed. Of the things that satisfied that tooth the most, there's no doubt that her favorites were her cookies, those delectable "Dove" chocolates, and the ultimate prize…a trip to Sander's!
The legacy of love she leaves behind is genuine and unique, and will be a constant reminder of the care she extended with each reflection that is shared. She will be missed immensely and loved eternally.
Beloved wife of the late Edwin. Loving mother of Thomas (Lynn) DeMann and Paulette Nantais. Devoted grandmother of Renee, Jill, Dale, and great-grandmother of 13.
