Walter E. "Wally" York 86, of Indianapolis passed away on February 12, 2013. He was born in Azalea, IN to Charles and Nora Wyat York who preceded him in death. He is also preceded in death by his sisters, Myrtle, Marie, Althy, Helen and Dorothy and his brothers, Herman and Ray. Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife of 63 years, Betty Jo, his son Danny York and his wife Kris, his daughter, Jeri York Black, his grandchildren, Taylor York, Shelby Jo York, Jeffrey (Becky) Black and Shawn Black, his great-grandchildren, Britney Danielle Black, Chassity Marie Black, Emily Black, Cynthia Kaylee Black and Lucas Black, and great-great-granddaughter, Harper Black. He graduated from Seymour High School in 1944 where he was known as "Shorty" and served in the US Navy. He married Betty Jo Layton on August 20, 1949 in Indianapolis. He retired as a Job Setter from Ford Motor Co. after many years of service where he was known for his saying "I Can't Do It All". Through the years, he enjoyed bowling and was an avid fisherman and loved sports, especially the Indianapolis Colts and the Indiana University Hoosiers. His family would like to express sincere appreciation to the staff at Community North Hospice and the many Drs. who have cared for him over the years. They would like to offer special heartfelt thanks to Nurse Practioner, Jeanne Majors and Andrea from Healthy Heart for their exceptional care. Friends may visit with the family from 4-8 PM Friday with the Funeral Services being held at 10 AM Saturday at Flanner and Buchanan – Lawrence, 5215 N. Shadeland Ave, Indianapolis, IN. Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery, Seymour, IN at 2 PM Saturday.
